Children: Bart, Maarten, Leuntje, Leendert?

Cornelis Bartenszoon: In 1649 married to Leentje Dircksdochter "Maeldrift". Mentioned as a man of fighting ability in 1653. His three, possibly four children were born in Wassenaar before 1667. In 1677 he sold his house in Wassenaar to Arent van Hensbergen. At the end of his life Cornelis owned a house in Lisse, but he lived in Mijdrecht, "between the Hoeve and the Kromme Mijdrecht". The house in Lisse was in the hamlet that we know as de Engel, right next to the inn of the same name. The house was bought for him in 1686 by his son Maarten and was only sold in 1732 after Maarten's death by Cornelis' (grand)children to Maartje Maertensdochter van den Burg and her husband IJsbrant van der Meer. Cornelis most likely had a relationship or kinship with the owners of the inn De Engel, the Claverweijde family, a family with roots in Noordwijkerhout. Father and son Leendert Leendertszoon and Huibert Leendertszoon Claverweijde were the owners of the inn De Engel. Arij Leendertszoon Claverweijde was a skipper and beer brewer in Wassenaar. The relationship may also have occurred via another route, via Cornelis' sister, Trijntje Bartenszoon, who married Cornelis Andrieszoon Hoogduin. The Hoogduin family had an inn in Wassenaar. Trijntje Bartensdochter is mentioned with the surname Van den Burg, proof that the names Verberch and Van den Burg were used interchangeably in the mid-17th century . Three children of Cornelis have been found (proven); no baptismal certificate has been found for a possible son Leendert.

"Andrew came to southern Minesota in 1871, and married Helene in 1874. He left her with her family at Spring Grove, Minnesota and left for Dakota territory. In 1875 they met up in Fargo and started to walk the 20 miles to the claim, but were picked up by oxcart by Martin Hexom. They stayed at the Hexoms while a log house was made ready by late fall. By 1890 a frame house was built as well as a barn and storage buildings, the acreage now totaled 240. Andrews death in 1902 left Helene with the five youngest children to continue farming. These were Peter, Helen, Henry, Betsy and Alvin. Ole and Gustav were employed elsewhere. There were 12 children, but five of the first six had died during a doptheria epidemic. Helene remained on the farm until her death in 1940. It is still known as the Quinnild farm." Excerpt from "Rural Cass County, The Land and People" pub. 1976, pg. 687-688.
