James W Hall was apparently a rich man who at some point left his family and moved to Beunos Aries and married another local woman there. He died while living there and his fortune was up for grabs. It was said to be a million dollars at the time, 1919, so A LOT of money. His daughter's husband, David Herbert Stone, went down to Beunos Aires to claim the money for his wife, James' daughter, Marion Evelyne Hall. While down there poor David caught a terrible bug and also died. This left his 11 year-old son James Herbert Stone and his wife alone. A lawyer gave them money to live on, still fighting for the estate, but when it was settled years later, they only had enough money to pay back the lawyer and move on. Thankfully, Marion Evelyne Hall was a smart lady and opened a string of movie theaters, she did just fine.
