Nils selde i 1710 ein part på 1 1/2 våg fisk i Kleppsvik i Austevoll "til hans Broder Niels Nielsen Backe" (i Austevoll) for 90 rdl som han hadde kjøpet i 1707. Far deira var Nils Halvorson Hille. Han og sonen brukte nesten identiske bumerke.

Konene hans var søskenborn, begge Martaene var oppkalla etter farmora på bakka, fedrane deira Ole og Ingebrigt var brør.
