Generelle notater: Ektemann - William Lucas

"He appears briefly in the records with his wife, Anne (b. 1630) in testimony in a law-suit June 3, and 11, 1659. (Surry D. & W., 1645-71, pp. 133-4). William and Ann Lucas had only one son, William Lucas, who was born in 1654 (D. & . 1671-84, p. 183). William Lucas Sr. probably died soon after 1659, and there is some reason to think that his widow, Anne, may have married 2nd Robert Dennis of Surry."

Son William, a daughter married Abraham Evans, a daughter married John Harris.

Generelle notater: Hustru - Anna Scarborough

Anne remarried to Robert Dennis died between 1670 and 1671, and his widow, Anne Dennis, on March 1, 1671/72 deeded 50 acres of land out of a large tract she had bought from John LeGrande to her son-in-law, Abraham Evans, having previously sold half of the total tract to William Lucas (D. & W., 1671-84, p.264). William Lucas was witness to the deed from LeGrande to Anne Dennis (Id., p.13) and on Nov. 1, 1688, was deeded more of the land by Nathaniel Dennis, son and heir of Robert and Anne Dennis (D. & W. 1687-94, p.92). William Dennis appears in William Lucas's household in the tithables of 1687, and Nathaniel Dennis is shown with Lucas in 1690. Ann Dennis also deeded land to her son-in-law, John Harris, about the same time that she made the deed to Abraham Evans (D.&W. 1671-84, p.87). If the identification of Anne Dennis and Anne Lucas is correct, William and Anne Lucas probably had two daughters in addition to William Lucas, Jr., one of whom married Abraham Evans and the other, John Harris."

Christening records of St Bartholomews, Colne, Lancashire shows Anna, daughter of Johis (John) Scarborough christened Feb 23, 1630. There is quite a distance (4 1/2 hours by train today) between Cornwall where William Lucas was born and Lancashire, so it is uncertain if this is "his" Anne.
