Generelle notater: Ektemann - Ambrose Fitzgerald

"Ambrose was born in 1755 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Sally was born in 1760, also in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

Ambrose and Sally had 7 children:
Elizabeth (1786-1886)??
Ambrose Jr., (1790 - ???)
Thomas (1791-1866)
Anna
Elijah (Eli) (1800-1849)
Dudley (1800-???)
Garrett (1805- after 1880)

By 1790 Ambrose was living in Pendleton, South Carolina with 5 males under 16, one male over 16 (himself) and three females, ages not given, presumably one of whom is his wife, Sally; a total of 9 persons.
In 1800 there were 11 people in the household; in 1810, 10 people, in 1820, 4 people including two foreigners not naturalized; in 1830, 2 people between the ages of 70 and 79, presumably Ambrose and Sally, and one female slave between the ages of 10 and 23. This is the first time a slave is listed in the household.

Ambrose was a farmer. In his will, dated 1834, he leaves his cash to his son Eli. He also directs that his land on the Tugaloo (?) River be sold and the proceeds divided between his sons Ambrose Jr. and Dudley. He directs that his livestock be sold and the proceeds and the rent from his plantation be divided between his sons Eli, Ambrose, Dudley and Thomas. He leaves small bequests to his granddaughter and two daughters. To Garrett he leaves "I give in addition to what I herefore given one dollar". He and Garrett may have had a falling-out, or if he had been generous with Garrett during his lifetime.

Sally died in 1831; Ambrose in 1834. Ambrose and Sally's burial location is unknown.
Sally's father was Richard Brown.
