Obituary 2012: Evelyn was born in Norwood, Mass. on Dec. 22, 1931, the second daughter of Joseph and Ethel Schelin. She lived in Massachusetts during the first 21 years of her life. She met her future husband, Warren, while attending Northeastern University, where she had earned a scholarship while attending prep school in Boston. Evelyn also worked for a time as a lab technician for the Polaroid Corporation, makers of the instant photo Polaroid Cameras.

She married Warren in March 1953 and they were blessed with six sons all that grew into their maturity. Married for over 58 years, Evelyn followed Warren to various parts of the world as an Army wife; none of the boys, except for the twins, were born in the same country, let alone city or state. They settled in Noble in order for Warren to attend law school and completed raising the boys there.

Evelyn was totally dedicated to her family; nothing was more important to her than her husband and boys. A homemaker and stay-at home mom for all of her life, she also excelled in needlework including crewel and cross stitching. She loved Indian art, miniature nativities and "good" music; she even became a master weaver. Evelyn was also active in her church; her church service included a full-time mission for 18 months at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah and serving locally as the president of the Relief Society, as a Sunday school teacher and as a genealogical library worker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. Schelin and Ethel Wally Christina Peterson (Schelin), by her husband Warren H. Ellis, Sr. and by her sons, Steven A. Ellis and Joseph B. Ellis.

She is survived by her sons, Warren H. Ellis, Jr. and Peter A. Ellis, both of Norman, Daniel D. Ellis of Meade, Colo. and Robert L. Ellis of Wichita, Kan. and their respective families.
